Fair Dalgona | UTZ certified

Some call it corona coffee because this is what many have experimented with at home, when they had nothing better to do. Whether this is a good coffee drink or not, we will leave that to others to decide.

UTZ pays the farmer better

The coffee continues to grow and mature undeterred even when we, the coffee drinkers, have gone into quarantine. Even so, when the harvest starts, the farmer may incur disproportionately higher costs when infection control is to be practiced on the coffee plantations. There are no sinks for hand washing installed in the fields, so you just have to put on your gloves when picking the coffee by hand. And some of them will go. Every time there is a break, you have to take off your gloves and of course you don't use used masks and gloves again!

This of course gives the farmer extra costs and we have therefore decided that we will only buy UTZ certified coffee at no extra cost to our customers. The exception is then highly classified green coffee beans, where the cost price is anyway far above what a coffee farmer can hope to get for a regular specialty coffee.

Not just UTZ on green beans

The instant coffee we import will also be UTZ certified. For practical reasons that come with the purchase of coffee beans and certification, e.g. coffee used for the production of iced coffee could not be certified before the containers that are sent from Brazil to Norway in June.

This is because we have to find enough certified coffee, and considering that we will have over 100 tonnes of coffee beans at short notice, the June shipment will therefore be the first UTZ-certified shipment of instant coffee.

For green coffee beans, we have had UTZ coffee in stock for a long time and a container of UTZ coffee beans is on the way. Arrives in Trondheim in approx. 2 weeks.
