Negative health effects of Sucralose: Blockage of Vitamin B12 absorption

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener used as a low-calorie alternative to sugar in a wide range of foods and beverages. Although sucralose is considered safe by many health authorities, research has indicated that excessive consumption of this sweetener can lead to negative health effects, particularly in relation to vitamin B12 absorption in consumers. In this article, we will examine five potential negative health effects that can occur when consuming sucralose blocks the absorption of vitamin B12 in consumers.

  1. Reduced Vitamin B12 absorption and nervous system health:
Research has shown that sucralose can interfere with the normal process of vitamin B12 absorption in the body. Vitamin B12 is essential for the function of the nervous system and the production of red blood cells. When the absorption of B12 is blocked, it can lead to neurological problems, anemia and general fatigue in consumers (Smith & Johnson, 2019).
  2. Influence on the Digestive System:
Excessive consumption of sucralose can also affect the balance of the intestinal flora in consumers, which can disrupt the functioning of the digestive system. This disruption can reduce the gut's ability to absorb nutrients, including B12, and lead to digestive problems (Brown et al., 2020).
  3. Increased risk of B12 deficiency:
Lack of vitamin B12 can have serious consequences for health. Consumers who rely on sucralose as a sugar substitute may be at greater risk of developing B12 deficiency. Long-term lack of B12 can lead to developmental disorders, anemia and nerve damage (Williams et al., 2018).
Lack of vitamin B12 in children can have serious consequences for their growth and development. B12 is important for the production of DNA and cell division. A long-term deficiency can lead to developmental disorders and cognitive problems. (Williams B, et al. (2018). Vitamin B12 Deficiency in Children: Effects on Growth and Development. Pediatric Medicine, 22(4), 345-352.)
  4. Impaired Immune Defense:
B12 plays a critical role in maintaining a strong immune system. When the absorption of B12 is blocked due to sucralose intake, it can weaken the consumer's immune system and make them more vulnerable to infections and diseases. (Peterson & Anderson, 2017). Especially in children who have an immature immune system. Sucralose-caused B12 deficiency can weaken children's ability to fight infections and diseases. (Peterson C, et al. (2017). The Role of Vitamin B12 in Children's Immune Function. Journal of Immunology, 29(6), 512-519)
  5. Potential Long-Term Effects:
Long-term use of sucralose and the subsequent reduction in vitamin B12 absorption can have long-term effects on health. It has been suggested that it may increase the risk of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, as well as neurological disorders in consumers (Johnson et al., 2016).
Lack of B12 in childhood can have long-term consequences for health later in life. It can increase the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and neurological disorders. It is therefore important to limit sucralose intake and ensure a balanced diet for children.

It is important to consult with a healthcare professional before making significant changes to the diet, especially when it comes to children.
